Reconciliation

The Head of the High Council of State, Mohammed Takala, discussed with a delegation from the African Union on Saturday facilitating preparations for the comprehensive reconciliation conference scheduled to be held in the city of Sirte next April.

Takala met in Tripoli Congolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, representing the Chairman of the African Union High-Level Committee for Libya, Jean-Claude Gakosso, the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission in Libya, and the Head of the Liaison Office in Tunisia, in addition to the Director of the Office of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission.

Takala appreciated the importance of the role of the African Union and the Congo, especially in the Libyan reconciliation file, since the announcement of its launching in September 2021, and expressed the readiness of the HCS to provide all possible support to help the efforts of the high-level African Union Committee to achieve comprehensive national reconciliation, which continued through previous preparatory meetings in Tripoli, Benghazi and Sabha, leading to the session that will be held in the city of Zuwara on January 14-15 to prepare for the comprehensive reconciliation conference in Sirte.

The HCS media office cited the representative of the Chairman of the High-Level African Union Committee as welcoming the response and cooperation shown by the HCS in order to heal the rift and bridge the gap of disagreement, in a way that achieves the public interest based on national foundations and constants, and consistent with the Constitutional Declaration and the agreements concluded in Skhirat and Geneva.
