The Turkish Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, announced on Monday that a search and rescue, and medical intervention team had been dispatched to eastern Libya to help alleviate the effects of Storm Daniel disaster, adding on X platform that the team and equipment were sent to the flood area that affected thousands of people in Libya.

He confirmed the completion of the preparation of medical materials, devices and medicines, adding that a national search, rescue and medical intervention team consisting of 11 individuals would arrive in Libya.

A Turkish aid plane arrived early on Tuesday at Benina Airport in Benghazi carrying 168 members of the rescue team to help alleviate the impact of the storm in Jabal Al-Akhdar area. 

In a brief statement published by the Turkish Embassy in Libya on X, Turkish ambassador Kenan Yilmaz said: “At a time when we feel the pain of our Libyan brothers, we moved with search and rescue personnel coming from our country to the disaster area with three planes loaded with relief materials, with the aim of alleviating this pain."

The Turkish Red Crescent also announced that it was coordinating with the Libyan Red Crescent, and the Turkish Civil Defense Organization to help send the necessary humanitarian aid to alleviate the crisis resulting from heavy rainfall in a number of eastern region's cities.
