Libyana, a major mobile phone operator in Libya, and Expertise France, the French agency of technical assistance, signed a sponsorship agreement in Tripoli on February 13 to support Stream, an integrated incubator, accelerator and fab lab in Tripoli.

The agreement aims to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation and boost Libyan ecosystem of start-ups.

Stream is being created since October 2018 through a €2.000.000 project, which is financed by the UK government and implemented by Expertise France. It will open in June 2019 to welcome a strong and dynamic community of entrepreneurs.

Stream’s goal is to develop the spirit of creativity and innovation in the community. It helps entrepreneurs transform their ideas into profitable businesses through the creation of an integrated environment, where entrepreneurs will find all services they need to develop and scale-up their businesses, such as coaching, mentoring, prototype design (through fab-lab facilities), registration, networking, and meeting with investors.

Libyana’s sponsorship for Stream is in line with its broader ambition to support innovation and entrepreneurship. Through supporting inventors, entrepreneurial projects, and the creation of a sound environment for business communities, Libyana aims to become a Hub for technological innovation.
