The newly appointed Minister of Finance Faraj Bumatari has taken office to replace Osama Hammad in the presence of a power handing committee.

The outgoing Minister Hammad gave a brief speech welcoming the new incumbent as part of establishing peaceful power circulation, Presidential Council’s (PC) media office said, adding that he was awarded with a symbolic shield for his unprecedented work along with the ministry’s staffers.

The PC reshuffled Sunday its government cabinet, naming new interior, economy, finance, and youths and sport ministers.

The step was commended by UNSMIL, vowing to support them to implement the new security arrangements in Tripoli and to execute the economic reforms.

The House of Representatives (HoR) said it is strange that the UNSMIL has hailed the unilateral Presidential Council’s cabinet replacements, saying the reshuffling decision has violated the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA.)
