The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, has told AFP on Sunday that the African Union (AU) will organize a conference on national reconciliation in Libya, in the latest attempt by the AU to restore stability to Libya.

Faki said after a press conference following the two-day African Union's summit that the AU commission members met with the various parties and are in the process of working with them to specify the date and venue of the national reconciliation conference.

He added the conference would be sponsored by a high-level committee of the African Union headed by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, reiterating that the AU demanded in the preparatory meeting that the mercenaries leave Libya, and that Libyans must resort to dialogue, saying the AU believed that those conditions were necessary for moving toward elections.
