The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, signed an agreement on Thursday, according to which the African Union's office will return to Tripoli, after a ten-year hiatus, coinciding with the 14th anniversary of February 17 Revolution.
The agreement was signed by the African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye, in the presence of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, on the sidelines of the 46th session of the African Union Executive Council, according to a statement by the Libyan Foreign Ministry.
The ministry said that the resumption of the office's work from Tripoli confirms the state of security and stability witnessed by Libya and the return of many embassies and diplomatic missions to the capital, adding that this will contribute to activating the paths of diplomatic consultation and coordination to serve the interests of the Libyan people.
