The United States Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, met Thursday with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, to discuss the reconstruction of Derna city and other areas affected by Storm Daniel, which struck eastern Libya last September.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Georgette Gagnon, and the Chargé d'Affairs at the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Berndt.

“Chargé d'Affaires Berndt and I are encouraged by efforts to ensure that reconstruction funds are released in a coordinated, transparent, and effective manner to meet the needs of the people of Derna and other affected communities.  Together with United Nations Support Mission of Libya, WorldBank, and others we stand ready to help Libya”, Norland said according to the US Embassy X platform page.
