Libya's Ambassador to the United Nations, Taher Al-Sunni, has met with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs, Izumi Nakamitsu.

The meeting took place ahead of Libya's upcoming presidency of the conference's fourth session next week. The conference aims to establish a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other mass destructive weapons.

Al-Sunni said through his X account that they discussed current events and developments in the region, as well as preparations and the topics that will be on the agenda during the conference.

Libya also chaired the second preparatory meeting with member states to finalize the work program for the forthcoming conference scheduled to take place between 13 and 17 November, according to Al-Sunni.
