The Office of the Attorney General issued arrest warrant for 13 individuals linked to a criminal gang involved in orchestrating illegal immigration, human trafficking, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals for commercial gain in the cities of Kufra and Tazerbu.
Local authorities managed to in rescue of 197 migrants who had endured forced confinement and maltreatment aimed at extracting ransom from their families for their release, as per the statement from the Attorney General’s Office.
The statement added: “Upon the conclusion of the investigative process, the investigative body took charge of scrutinizing the events associated with the detained members of the group. It has also issued directives to pursue 76 individuals complicit in the acts under investigation.”
