US Charge d'Affaires, Jeremy Berndt has underscored the importance of overcoming tension and promoting dialogue and consensus between the Libyan parties, with the support of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the international community.
This came during a meeting with the Minister of State for Communication and Political Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Walid Al-Lafi, where the two parties discussed the recent developments in Libya, according to a tweet from the US Embassy on X platform.
In the same context, a statement published by our government’s Facebook platform stated that the two parties stressed during the meeting the necessity of supporting efforts of UNSMIL, to build more consensus, and reach a comprehensive political settlement between the Libyan parties.
