The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, has sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, in which he stressed the invalidity of any memorandums of understanding concluded by the Government of National Unity (GUN).
Saleh called on the Secretary-General to refer his letter to the UN Security Council and international organizations to warn of the loss of legitimacy of the Dbeibah’s government, as the HoR withdrew confidence from it, stressing that Bashagha’s government is the recognized government in accordance with the decisions of the HoR.
He also explained that the GNU is involved in concluding a memorandum of understanding with Turkey for oil and gas exploration in the economic waters of the eastern Mediterranean, in violation of the political agreement, as he put it.
