The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Presidential Council (PC), Mohammed Sayala, has reaffirmed his statements in his speech at the General Assembly of the UN, in which he called for the UN mission to shift its role from being a political mission to a mission to support and establish security and stability in Libya.

In a statement released by the ministry, Sayala clarified that this is not a request for the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to become a peacekeeping mission governed by legal and procedural rules that differ from the legal rules governing the political missions, pointing out that his intention was that the UN be more engaged in the Libyan crisis, according to the statement.
