The Libyan General Electricity Company (GECOL) reported on Wednesday the confirmation of the availability of sufficient gas to operate the power plants at maximum load after the completion of maintenance work on the Baher Salam offshore gas field.

The spokesman of GECOL, Ahmed Hassan, said in a press statement that the status of the electrical grid is good now with the operation of all power units, reassuring the citizens of the stability of the electricity network during the month of Ramadan, calling for rationalization in the consumption of electricity.

Hassan explained that the delay in the completion of the maintenance work at Baher Salam field over the past period led to a shortage of natural gas, which resulted in the power production units not being able to function at maximum load.
