The German defense and foreign ministries announced Friday that they had destroyed the last batch of Libya's chemical weapons after disposing 500 tons of materials that could be used in producing chemical weapons.

The two ministries said that the destruction process was carried out successfully and in a manner of preserving the environment at one of the facility in the German city of Münster.

The load was transported to Germany in late August 2016, and it included 23 reservoirs of chemicals, which had been in the possession of the Gaddafi regime before the new authorities after the February revolution decided to dispose them with the help of the international community.
