The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that it has no links to the reconciliation forum of ‘tribes of southern Libya’.

The Italian Nova agency stated that the Italian Foreign Ministry denied its participation in any role in the organization of the forum and quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the issue was, in fact, related to the Italian non-profit organization ‘Ara Pacis’.

The sources revealed that Ara Pacis contributed, some years ago, to achieving reconciliation between certain tribes, following the conflict in southern Libya, adding that it promoted and called for the structuring of this forum.

The Italian news agency further said that the sources indicated that the Italian embassy in Tripoli granted entry visas specifically to those Libyan delegates due to participate in the forum, in accordance with all legal procedures in place.
