The Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini on Tuesday said Italy is ready to provide technical and advisory support to enhance the High National Elections Commission's preparations for Libya's potential elections.
Alberni's remarks came during his visit to the HNEC HQ in Tripoli, where he discussed with the commission's head, Imad El-Sayeh, the electoral process and the procedures in this regard.
The HNEC viewed the visit within "the framework of the international community’s support for Libya's democratic path" and to assess the Commission's preparedness in organizing any elections that may emerge from a prospective settlement.
The commission expressed appreciation for the Italian ambassador's recognition of all efforts aimed at advancing the electoral process, including the work the HNEC has accomplished so far in this regard.
