Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Italy, Manlio Di Stefano, has expressed concern about the detention of the Italian fishermen by militias in eastern Libya.

Stefano added that “these militias do not represent the Libyan Government, thus the releasing procedure getting more complicated”, according to the Italian agency news Aki.

“Libya's neighboring countries which have an influence on the local militias are helping us providing assistance to the fishermen,” he said, confirming that some medicines have been already provided to the sailors.
