Libya's Permanent Representative to the UN, Taher El-Sonni, has met with his Qatari counterpart, Alya Al-Thani, to discuss issues of common interest, including preparations for a conference to establish a nuclear-weapon-free zone in Doha, which Libya will chair.

In a post on X on Saturday, El-Sonni expressed his satisfaction with the productive meeting with Ambassador Al-Thani.

The meeting addressed joint arrangements for the inaugural meeting, set to take place next month in Doha during Libya's presidency of the Conference on Establishing a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone and Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East.

Furthermore, the discussion yielded positive outcomes on enhancing bilateral cooperation, addressing the political situation in Libya, the role of the UN mission in the coming period, and the latest developments in Gaza, including efforts to achieve a ceasefire and end the ongoing crisis.
