The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) held talks on Sunday the Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Libya, Roberto Mignone, over the migrants and refugees’ files and their humanitarian conditions in the detention shelters throughout the country.

The two sides discussed ways to address the common humanitarian issues, according to a statement issued by the NCHRL.

They insisted on the need to formalize the (UNHCR) work in Libya through a memorandum of understanding that allows it to exercise its functions, which include determining who is entitled to seek asylum and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to needy groups in Libya.
