Minister of Justice Muhammad Lamlum on Monday discussed with Suki Nagra, representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Libya (UNHCHR) prospects of cooperation between the ministry and the UNHCHR.

The meeting dealt with several issues related to human rights and the ministry's role in promoting the rights of inmates inside its reform and rehabilitation institutions.

The UN official praised the efforts of the Ministry of Justice in developing and improving detention conditions within its institutions in line with international standards (Mandela Standards).

The Ministry of Justice emphasized its adherence to the principle of transparency in order to improve and develop correction and rehabilitation centers and to address deficiencies that may arise in this aspect.
