The Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohammed Al-Hawaij, has issued a decision banning the import of all types of furniture of French origin, after the spread of bedbugs in France.
The decision directed the Customs Authority not to release any imported shipments of furniture and home furnishings from any country except after ensuring that they are free of carriers of harmful insects and pests.
The Minister of Economy and Trade directed the Director General of the Customs Authority to take all measures not to release furniture and home furnishings supplied from France urgently before the issuance of the decision in particular, due to the observed spread of bedbugs in France.
