The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity (GNU) has officially taken over the responsibility for securing the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), as announced late Friday night.

The decision follows the directives of Acting Minister of Interior Imad Trabelsi and aligns with an agreement on the security of the bank’s headquarters.

The transition included key officials and security measures to protect the facility. In a press conference, Minister Trabelsi stated that the ministry will be solely responsible for the security of all institutions in the capital, Tripoli.

He also confirmed that other security agencies and military groups would return to their main bases and would no longer be present on the streets or involved in securing state institutions.
