The Ministry of Labour has confirmed that January payrolls will not include the 20% increase approved by the Presidential Council for public sector workers.

The ministry said it was officially informed by the Ministry of Finance that there will be no increase in salaries for this month.

The salaries have been set at the amount they were in December last, and it is not likely to see an increase in pay level in the coming two months either, the Labour Ministry explains.

The Presidential Council has approved an increase in the salary level for workers in public administrative units by 20%, as of January 1, to deal with the effects of the decision to unify the Libyan dinar exchange rate.
