The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) has recorded a drop in the number of migrants to Italy crossing the Mediterranean last June to 3 thousand migrants, which represents a decline of 87% compared to the same month last year.

The EU agency said in a statement that the number of migrants in the first six months of this year is more than 16,000, which is 81% less than in the same period last year.

The most migrants this year are Tunisians and Eritreans, who together surpassed one-third of all migrants.
