Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj has appealed for more support from the UN to ensure the implementation of the presidential and parliamentary elections on the deadline of December 24, 2021.
PM Al-Sarraj called in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and President of the Security Council, for a resolution in support of the electoral process and to grant the UN mission in Libya a mandate to provide the necessary capabilities, including the technical, substantive, and election observation assistance during the process.
He also requested the UN to send a team to consult and coordinate with the High National Election Commission and the competent authorities to ensure the success of the electoral process that would lead to a stable, civil democratic state.
