The spokesperson of warlord Khalifa Haftar's self-styled army, Ahmed Al-Mismari, said that they had completed the structural arrangements required for the reunification of the army, with the participation of officers from the eastern, western and southern regions.

Russia’s Sputnik news outlet quoted Al-Mismari as saying that the dispute is still on over the identity of the supreme commander of the army, explaining that they disagree with the United Nations and the international community, which gave legitimacy to Fayez Al-Sarraj, despite lacking local legitimacy, as he put it.

Al-Mismari also pointed to their adherence to what he called the legitimacy, the constitutional declaration, and the House of Representatives; whose speaker remains “the supreme commander of the army” until the election of a new president for the country, according to Al-Mismari.
