Turkish presidency has referred a letter to the Parliament asking for an extension of Turkish military mission in Libya for 18 more months starting July 02, according to Anadolu Agency.

The latter, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, stressed that the goal of sending forces to Libya is securing national interests within the limitations of international law as well as taking precautions against security threats from illegitimate armed groups in Libya, mass immigration, helping Libyan people with humanitarian assistance and providing the legitimate government with the necessary support.

The letter said Turkey had sent forces to Libya as per Article 92 of the constitution on January 02, 2020.
