Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has discussed with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, the developments in the situation in Libya, and ways to undertake joint efforts that would achieve peace in Libya.

This came during their meeting on the sidelines of the 16th Munich Security Conference, in Germany on Saturday, where the two ministers discussed Turkish-European relations in detail.

Fidan assured his Italian counterpart of Turkey's aspiration to remove the political obstacles hindering its membership negotiations in the European Union, according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency.

The Turkish-Italian consultations came to help Libya in parallel with the rapprochement between Ankara and Cairo, to achieve a breakthrough in various files, including moving the political process.
