The UNHCR announced on Friday the evacuation of 2500 asylum seekers from Libya to Niger, Italy and Romania during 2018.

The UNHCR said on its official website that it had transferred 132 refugees from the most vulnerable groups from Tripoli to Niger in preparation for transfer to a third country as part of the process of evacuating migrants from Libya to other countries.

The UNHCR has previously announced the existence of 5,400 refugees and migrants inside shelters in Libya, in which 3900 of them are of the UNHCR competence.
