A light earthquake was felt in parts of the Libyan capital of Tripoli on Thursday, according to eyewitnesses.
The tremor occurred at 3:31 pm local time with no reports of serious damage or casualties.
The 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck at a depth of 10 km, according to the Libyan Center for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, which added that the epicenter of the tremor is not known because its seismic monitoring station was down.
A video circulated online showed furniture shaking in an office in Tripoli while other residents shared photos showing cracks in the walls of their buildings.
The Emergency Medicine and Support Center raised the alarm and confirmed in a statement its full readiness in anticipation of any emergency.
