Protesters stormed on Sunday the headquarters of the Presidential Council in Tripoli in protest against the decision to include the dead and wounded people of Khalifa Haftar’s forces in the General Authority for the Care of the Families of Martyrs and Missing Persons.

Footage circulated on social media showed dozens of protesters inside the Presidential Council's headquarters, chanting rejection of the decision.

On February 26, the Presidential Council requested, in a letter addressed to the Head of the Authority for the Care of Families of Martyrs and Missing Persons, a list of the dead and wounded persons of Haftar’s forces and the disbursement of the material and moral benefits assigned to them in accordance with the laws in force within the Authority.

The Presidential Council’s letter did not bear the signatures of the Council’s Head Mohammed Menfi nor his deputies Abdullah Al-Lafi and Mossa Al-Koni.

Last Thursday, Al-Lafi called on Menfi to withdraw the letter that was sent to the Head of the Authority for the Care of Martyrs Families, saying that it violated the outcomes of the Political Dialogue Forum, as he did not obtain the approval of the Presidential Council as a whole in its capacity as the Chief Commander of the Army.
