A high-level delegation from the Algerian Civil Aviation Authority arrived, on Wednesday, at Mitiga Airport in Tripoli, to conduct the necessary check of the security and operational procedures in place at the airport, with the aim of ensuring their conformity with international standards and the possibility of resuming flights between Algeria and Libya.
The Algerian delegation was received by the Director General of the Airport, the Director of the Operations and Safety Department, the Director of the Airport Security Office, the Director of the Standards Conformity Department at the Airports Authority, and the Director of the Aviation Security and Facilities Office at the Civil Aviation Authority, in addition to representatives of some security agencies working at the airport.
The Airports Authority said on its Facebook page that the Algerian delegation conducted a field tour of the airport facilities to check the security and operational procedures at the airport, explaining that the aim of this visit is to improve and enhance the level of services provided at the airport and ensure the safety of flights.
During the tour, the readiness of security and safety systems, including security equipment and inspection procedures, in addition to reviewing operational procedures to ensure the effective and smooth operation of the airport were confirmed.
The delegation held a meeting with the management of Mitiga Airport, during which a detailed discussion of operational procedures and safety measures took place. The management provided a detailed explanation of the improvements that had recently been introduced and its commitment to recommended international standards in the field of civil aviation.
The Airports Authority explained that this activity comes within a strategic plan aimed at reopening air routes between Libya and Algeria, and enhancing economic exchange between the two countries, in accordance with agreed upon international standards in the field of civil aviation, as well as within the Airports Authority’s plans to raise the level of services provided at airports and to enhance security guarantees for flights.
