Defend Benghazi Brigades (DBB) said the statement of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government is “pathetic and shameful” to the sovereignty of the Libyan country, pointing out that it implies a tone of “humiliation and degradation”.

In a statement, the DBB denounced the flagrant French intervention in the Libyan affairs and the airstrikes it conducted in cooperation with and in assistance for the renegade General, Khalifa Haftar.

On the other hand, Benghazi Shura Council called on Libyans in a statement Friday for mobilization and asked them all to get together to thwart the French war on Benghazi, calling on all Cyrenaica people to reject whatever project Haftar is trying to involve them in, according to the statement, and reminding them that their land has never welcomed the colonists.

The senior leader in DBB, Mustafa Al-Shirksy, said in his speech in Misrata’s anti-France and pro-DBB demonstration on Friday that their forces are very keen on liberating Benghazi from Haftar’s militias, adding that they are preparing for other “rounds” after reorganizing their forces.

Al-Shirksy added that Haftar enlisted the help of France to fight Benghazi’s revolutionaries after the latter closed in on his forces by a number of victories in which they seized about 100 km2 from the militias of Dignity Operation.
