Dbeibah

‎The Libyan Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, says he expects economic growth in Libya to range between 11% and 12% in 2025, stressing that oil production may exceed two million barrels per day soon provided that development projects continue without obstacles.

Dbeibah said, in an interview with the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat, on the sidelines of the Davos Economic Forum: "I call on Arab oil countries to invest in the Libyan energy sector alongside major foreign companies."

He stressed the need to provide stability at the security and economic levels, to achieve a growth rate higher than what the World Bank expects: 9.6% this year. He also criticized the previous management of the Central Bank of Libya, led by Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, saying that the Central Bank "used to work in a personal way in the past, and today it has a board of directors that makes decisions, while its powers include working to develop the (almost dead) banking sector."

‎Dbeibah said that freezing Libyan funds abroad was in the country's interest in the past to preserve its wealth abroad from looting, adding that the Security Council's decision to ease restrictions on those funds was an important step to lift the ban and freeze permanently, so that Libyans can manage them because they belong to them, and the country needs them.

Dbeibah revealed Libya's vision to enhance cooperation with the Gulf countries, led by Saudi Arabia, in addition to attracting international investments in various economic and development sectors. He explained that discussions with Saudi officials at the World Economic Forum focused on strengthening bilateral partnerships in the oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was identified as a crucial partner in strengthening the oil infrastructure in Libya.

The Libyan PM said that one of the most important steps in Libya's cooperation with Saudi Arabia was launching direct flights between the two countries via Flynas, noting that this cooperation would produce significant progress in developing the air transport infrastructure in Libya, this helping to facilitate the movement of people and goods.
