The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, inaugurated on Friday the first Chinese-Libyan Economic Forum in Beijing under the slogan (Libya and China are partners in development and reconstruction).

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, Dbeibah stressed the need to focus on resuming suspended Chinese firms' projects in Libya, and considering this resumption the first stage of joint cooperation.

84 Chinese companies operating in various fields, directors of government executive agencies, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for Commercial Affairs Suhail Abu Shiha, Director General of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, the Libyan Embassy in China, and Director of the Asia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have participated in the Forum.

The Forum witnessed a visual presentation of the volume of trade exchange between Libya and China, and the economic and investment opportunities available to leading companies, in addition to the growth indicators witnessed by Libya, according to the reports of the International Monetary Fund, in recent years.

The directors of the executive bodies also presented the development projects targeted within the plan of stability led by Dbeibah's government: "Restoration of Life", a technical and financial analysis of the projects contracted with Chinese companies, and implementation priorities, while Chinese companies presented technical presentations showing their areas of work and similar projects in a number of countries around the world.

The Forum recommended continued communication between Libya and China, politically and technically to address the difficulties and problems facing the full return of Chinese companies, and agree to hold the second forum in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, next October, according to Dbeibah's media office.
