Libya's Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Thursday welcomed the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Abdullah Al-Dardari, and his accompanying delegation, as part of their official visit to Libya to hold several technical meetings with the ministries of planning, local government, and economy and trade.

The Government of National Unity (GNU) said that Dbeibah had welcomed the technical and financial cooperation between the United Nations and the GNU through the UNDP, in addition to hailing benefiting from their experiences in different regions of the world. 

Dbeibah instructed coordination and cooperation in discussing local economic diversification through the UNDP's experts and the relevant ministries, pointing out the necessity of uniting the efforts of the Ministry of Local Government and the UNDP to implement joint programs in the municipality of Murzuq, in addition to its reconstruction, due to the importance of this file locally and internationally.

Meanwhile, the Regional Director expressed the UNDP's satisfaction with the cooperation programs in local administration and development and the skills of leaders and systems that it had implemented in Libya, explaining that their team’s visit came to activate the agreements signed with the Benghazi and Derna Reconstruction Fund and a number of programs and projects related to the reconstruction of Derna as well as the storm-affected municipalities through a transparent mechanism and as per specific time schedule.
