The Senior leader of AL-Marsa Al-Kubra Brigade, which is one faction of the forces fighting IS in Sirte, Abdelsamea Khadoura, has said that the statement of Mohammed Al-Ghasri – the Spokesman of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, was meant to make one political party triumphant over another in a very wrong timing.
“The Spokesman’s statement can create disorder and defection among the fighters.” Khadoura added.
He also pointed out that Al-Ghasri’s statement is individualistic and does not speak for the majority of the fighters in Sirte.
“His statement was not coordinated with any of the leaders of the fighting frontlines in Sirte; all of them were taken by surprise as they saw him on TV.” Khadoura added, urging the military figures not to interfere in the political situation and remain focused on the fight against IS.
Earlier, the Spokesman of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos, Mohammed Al-Ghasri, stated the operation’s rejection of the statement made by the Presidential Guard, which called for surrendering the parliament HQs to the General National Congress, which it said is the only legitimate authority in Libya.
“According to the constitutional declaration and the ruling of the constitutional authority at the Supreme Court, the GNC is the sole legitimacy in Libya.” The Presidential Guard said in its statement previously.
The GNC and its Salvation Government entered last Friday the headquarters of the High Council of State in Rixos Hotel in Tripoli.
The SG’s Prime Minster, Khalifa Al-Ghweil, called on Al-Thanni government to share a national unity government with his government, saying he is ready to hold meetings in that regard to bring about a historical deal between both of the governments.
