The demining teams have destructed two tons of war remnants in the Aqrabeya area, some 3 km west of Tripoli, the Army General Staff confirmed in a statement Wednesday.
According to the statement, the crew recovered the remnants from different sites in southern Tripoli, including the Al-Abyar road in Ain Zara and the Al-Matabat Street near the Airport Road.
It confirmed that the unexploded ordnances were collected and transferred to the storage point for such items.
The statement indicated that the destruction process was carried out by the Military Engineering Department in cooperation with the military police, field medicine, and military intelligence, assuring that it took place according to international and local standards.
The demining teams conducted a similar operation in Bani Walid on Tuesday, as they destroyed several war remnants in Wadi Mimoun, south of the city.
