The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aati discussed the latest developments in Libya with US envoy to Libya Richard Norland in Washington.

During the meeting, the Egyptian minister stressed the continuation of his intensive contacts with all concerned parties with the aim of contributing to moving the Libyan crisis toward a sustainable solution.

The meeting also discussed supporting the Libyan-Libyan solution path and respecting the role of Libyan institutions, leading to holding presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously, in a manner that serves efforts to reach a solution to the crisis with pure Libyan ownership and leadership, in addition to the importance of respecting the reference of the Skhirat Agreement.

The two sides also stressed the need to work on ending all forms of foreign presence in Libya, and the exit of all foreign forces, fighters and mercenaries from Libya within a specific time frame, in a manner that preserves the unity, stability and sovereignty of Libya, ends the state of division, ensures the preservation of the capabilities of its people and stops all forms of foreign interference.
