The European Union's (EU) Ambassador to Libya Nicola Orlando said on X on Monday that he met with Minister of Communications and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi in Tripoli and had a productive exchange on the intense plan of action to enhance the EU-Libya partnership in 2025.

"We also addressed the impact of events in Syria on Libya following Al-Lafi's meetings in Damascus. We agreed on the importance of the withdrawal of all foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libya and fostering positive relations with all regional partners to safeguard Libya’s sovereignty, unity and stability." Orlando added.

Finally, we emphasized the importance of collaboration with UNSMIL to advance the political process and make tangible progress toward national elections.” Orlando added.

Al-Lafi said in a statement published by the government's media office that he had discussed with Orlando the government's vision for going directly to elections in order to end all transitional stages.
