EU aid

The European Union has provided relief teams in Derna with ground-penetrating radars to search for any victims who may still be buried under the rubble.

The EU mission in Libya said the Criminal Investigation Department is on the ground, working as part of the national response efforts.

"Thanks to the ground-penetrating radars provided by the European Union, the teams showed immediate operational readiness to help search for victims," the statement read.

The EU mission emphasized its continued support for disaster response efforts in the affected areas, east of the country.

Following the flood crisis in eastern Libya, the bloc announced a package worth up to €5.2 to assist local efforts in addressing the impact of the storm that hit the eastern region on September 10.
