Al-Gubba town in eastern Libya was shocked on Saturday evening by a horrific murder after the grandson of the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, named Aqila Belgassim Aqila Saleh, killed the teacher at Al-Ikhlas Secondary School, Hamad Al-Ghaithi, following a quarrel that occurred between them due to a previous traffic accident.

Local sources reported that the incident angered Al-Ghaithi family, who expelled the Speaker of the HoR and his family from Al-Gubba and demanded that he move out of town.

The sources explained that Saddam Haftar had sent a plane to evacuate the entire family of the HoR Speaker to Benghazi until reaching a solution to the problem. They said that the incident began with the victim visiting the perpetrator's house, where the latter assaulted him using an iron bar, leading to the victim's hand being broken, and then Belgassim stabbed him with a sharp knife leading to his death.

The sources have indicated that the atmosphere is tense and heated in Al-Gubba, where efforts are being made by the leaders of the Abeidat tribe to convince the family of the deceased to allow Saleh to return to Al-Gubba to carry out his work, given the sensitivity of the situation, while seeking to resolve the issue gradually.
