The Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohamed Takala, met with French envoy Paul Soler to discuss ways to foster closer collaboration among Libyan factions and establish a conducive environment for unifying the executive authority.
The meeting, held on Monday, was attended by the HCS First Deputy President, Masoud Obaid, several council members, and the French ambassador to Libya, Mustafa Mihraje.
A statement by the HCS media office said the meeting addressed the political situation in Libya, focusing on the current political deadlock and the potential efforts France could make to bridge the gap between Libyan parties.
They also discussed working with the international community to create a suitable environment for reaching a consensus on unifying the executive authority and achieving transparent and consensual national elections that meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
The meeting also explored ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in a manner that serves their interests, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in all fields.
Earlier on Monday, the special envoy of President Macron reaffirmed France's support for efforts aimed at addressing the political deadlock in Libya to ensure stability and achieve elections during a meeting with the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi.
