The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Aqila Saleh, discussed Monday with German ambassador Michael Ohnmacht efforts to hold a Libyan meeting in the near future under UN auspices with the aim of reaching elections in a way that achieves the will of the Libyan people, according to a press release issued by the HoR.

The meeting, which was held at the HoR in Benghazi, discussed the latest developments in the political situation in Libya, and the procedures for holding elections and forming a unified government across the country whose mission is to hold elections.

The German ambassador described his meeting with Saleh as an important meeting, during which the proposal of the UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, was discussed, as an important step toward strengthening the political process in the country.

Ohnmacht added on X platform on Tuesday: "We are confident that the appropriate timing and consensus will lead to achieving real progress by going to elections to achieve the will of the Libyan people.”
