The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) mission in Libya, Yan Farid, presented a detailed briefing to the Presidential Council (PC) on Tuesday regarding the committee's efforts in the hard-hit Derna, where flash floods two weeks ago destroyed 25 per cent of the port city.

The ICRC head met with Musa Al-Koni, a member of the Presidential Council, at the PC's headquarters in Tripoli.

The meeting reviewed the work, which the committee carried out in partnership with the Libyan Red Crescent and in coordination with the Crisis Management Committee assigned by the PC, the Council's media office stated.

The statement said Al-Koni praised the rapid response of the ICRC and its partner, the Libyan Red Crescent, given their extensive experience in humanitarian work.

The PC member also hailed all international organizations and institutions for supporting local efforts in confronting the disaster.
