Mohamed Menfi, President of Libya's Presidential Council (PC)/ Head of the Maghreb Union, met with Mauritanian President and African Union Chairman Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani in Accra, Ghana, on Sunday.
The meeting concluded Menfi's participation in the 6th semi-annual coordination meeting between the African Union, regional economic communities, and mechanisms.
During the meeting, Menfi congratulated President El Ghazouani on his election as African Union Chairman and commended his leadership in managing the bloc and presiding over the day's session with regional economic communities and mechanisms.
Discussions also focused on the African Union Commission elections and Libya's right to hold high-level and leadership positions within the commission and other bodies.
The two leaders agreed to continue consultations to enhance the role of the Maghreb Union and activate other African Union institutions.
