A delegation from the Government of National Unity (GNU) participated in the Climate Week in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for 2023, which began on Sunday and continues until October 12, which is organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

This week will constitute a platform that includes all concerned parties, with the aim of enhancing joint action toward adopting sustainable and integrated climate solutions, to accomplish the collective mission in confronting climate challenges, and achieving the ambitions stipulated in the Paris Agreement.

During the sessions of the first day of Climate Week, the participants discussed the flood disaster that befell some cities in eastern Libya.

They expressed their deep condolences to the Libyan people, stressing at the same time the necessity of developing programs to reduce the impact of disasters to avoid loss of life and property in all countries.

Over the coming days, participants will also discuss the challenges and opportunities available for climate action and support in the Middle East and North Africa region, which will help enrich the global assessment process and accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
