Libya has called for Israel’s membership in the United Nations to be suspended and for Chapter VII of the UN Charter to be activated against it. The appeal, delivered during the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly, also urged international sanctions against those responsible for crimes against Palestinians.

Ashraf Hamed, an advisor to Libya's Permanent Mission to the UN, delivered the statement on November 19. Libya condemned the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza and other occupied territories, citing over 45,000 deaths, thousands of injuries, widespread destruction, and mass displacement.

The statement reaffirmed Libya's support for Palestinian resistance and the need to uphold international humanitarian law. It also called for an immediate halt to the aggression and the implementation of UN resolutions to ensure justice and the restoration of Palestinian rights.

Libya praised the work of UNRWA in supporting Palestinian refugees and criticized efforts to hinder its operations. The country reiterated its stance on the importance of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.
