The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) expects that weather will be hot in most areas of the country, with maximum temperature above their average for May, ranging between (37-43°C), with active southern winds. It is expected that during the next few hours, the wind will shift to northwesterly in areas from (Ras Jadir up to Tripoli), so the temperature is expected to drop significantly in these areas, with an increase in clouds this evening in some areas of the Nafusa Mountain.
The NCM expected, in its daily bulletin, that the intensity of the heat wave will relatively decrease tomorrow in most regions of the northwest, and that temperature will remain ranging between (high and moderate) during the beginning of the week in the rest of the country’s regions.
The weather bulletin about expected weather conditions in Libya, Thursday, 16 May 2024, as follows:
1. Area extending from Ras Jadir to Sirte - Al-Jafara Plain - Jabal Nafusa (North West of Libya):
- Sky condition: Clouds increase from time to time over some areas from Ras Jadir to Sirte, the Al-Jafara Plain, and Nafusa Mountain. They may be accompanied by thunderstorm rain, especially in the mountainous areas on Saturday.
- Wind: Moderate southerly to southwesterly, active today in some areas, and turns northwesterly this afternoon on the coast.
- Temperature: Ranges between (37-43 °C) in most areas, and a marked drop expected today afternoon in the areas from Ras Jadir to Tripoli, and a slight decrease will be recorded tomorrow.
2. Gulf - Benghazi plain up to Emssad (North East of Libya):
- Sky condition: Clear to few clouds.
- Wind: Southerly to southwesterly, moderate to active, stirring up dust and sand at times in some areas.
- Temperature: Ranging in most areas between (35-43°C).
3. Al-Jufra - Sabha - Ghat - Ghadames – Hamada (South West of Libya):
- Sky condition: Clouds are expected to increase from time to time over some areas.
- Wind: Southeasterly to southerly, moderate to brisk, stirring dust and sand at times.
- Temperature: Ranging in most areas between (38-42 °C).
4. The Oases - Sarir - Tazirbo – Kufra (South East of Libya):
- Sky condition: Some clouds will appear over the area.
- Wind: Moderate easterly to southeasterly.
- Temperature: Ranging between (35-40 °C).
