Members of the House of Representatives (HoR) reaffirmed their rejection of the forced displacement of the residents of the Gaza Strip to neighboring countries, and described the plan behind which US President Donald Trump stands as a flagrant violation of all international conventions and human rights as well as a crime that contradicts the principles of international law.
76 members added in a statement on Saturday that "any attempts to impose forced displacement on our people in the Gaza Strip are categorically rejected, as are any plans aimed at changing the demographic composition of Gaza or infringing on the rights of the Palestinian people in their land and homeland."
The statement stressed that "the just and permanent solution to the Palestinian Cause is to end the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions."
The members of the HoR also called in their statement on the international community and regional and international organizations, headed by the United Nations, to assume their legal and moral responsibilities to stop these violations, stressing Libya's firm and supportive position for the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people to achieve their legitimate national rights.
Earlier, the Government of National Unity announced its absolute rejection of any practices aimed at forced displacement or arbitrary expulsion of Palestinians, or changing the demographic composition of the occupied territories, or imposing racist policies that perpetuate the occupation.
In a statement published on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity reiterated Libya's firm and supportive position on the rights of the Palestinian people, which have been guaranteed by international legitimacy through successive UN resolutions, especially the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
